It takes about 1.5 hours from Brisbane, 2 hours from Sydney, 3 hours from Melbourne and 1.5 hours from Cairns to arrive at either of the airports. From the mainland terminal a connecting shuttle bus will meet you to take you to Shute Harbour in Airlie Beach where you will board a ferry to transfer you to your island destination. Or if you are landing at Hamilton Island a ferry cruise ship will meet you to take you across the Coral Sea to your destination.
